SUMMARY:“Biding Time” at Goose Creek Studio on 2nd Friday
DESCRIPTION:Artist Shelley Koopmann creates small yet captivating oil paintings of ordinary people doing ordinary things like taking a snooze in a beach chair or checking email on a cellphone.  During the month of January\, a collection of these image titled “Biding Time” will be featured in the Old Jail Hill Art Space on the 2nd floor at Goose Creek Studio.   \nA reception with the artist will be held on 2nd Friday\, January 13\, 5:00-8:00 pm.   \nIn addition to Koopmann’s paintings\, on the first floor there will also be new work by a number of local artisans including Nancy Blankenship (pottery)\, Deena Ruiz (lampwork jewelry)\, Timothy Parker (photography)\, Des Black (woodworking)\, Linda Black (fiber art)\, and Jaret Peerson (photography). \n\nShelley Koopmann’s “Under the Watchful Eye of Napoleon”  \nFor more information\, see www.goosecreekstudio.com or call (540) 586-8482. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:All BPLS branches will be closed on Monday\, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. \nHappy New Year! \nBooks 4 Fun and Rock-A-Bye Reader story times will resume at the end of January. \nBedford Business \nCome to the library on Wednesday\, January 4th. Between 4:15 and 5:30 PM\, teens and tweens between the ages of 11-19 are invited to participate in Fashion Club. Learn about the world of fashion\, how to create your own designs\, and do cool Do It Yourself projects to make or repurpose your own clothing. Materials are provided\, but you may also bring your own. From now on\, the Fashion Club will be meeting twice a month on the first and fourth Wednesday of the month. \nCome to the Bedford Library for STEAM Wednesday on January 11th! During this month’s program\, we are learning about weather. What is it? Why does it do what it does? Let’s find out! Make a tornado\, watch a hurricane in action\, see a cloud form\, and learn all about snow\, just in time for winter! STEAM Wednesday is intended for children 7+. \nJoin us for LEGO® Club on Thursday\, January 12th between 3:30 and 5:30 PM. Put your imagination to work using our LEGOS® or DUPLOS®. From 3:30-4:30 PM\, kids will also have the opportunity to spend time reading to Ty\, our Reading Assistance Dog. This is a great time for your child to practice reading skills and boost confidence while having fun with our favorite furry friend. Ages 5+ \nComing up on Tuesday\, January 17th is Family Movie Night. We are showing The Secret Life of Pets (PG)\, an animated film from the studio that brought you Despicable Me! Enjoy crafts at 4:45 and the movie at 5PM. Snacks provided! The movie’s running time is 1 hour 30 minutes. We hope to see you there! \nOn Thursday\, January 19th\, come to the library at 4PM to learn about our 3-D printer. After this introduction\, teens ages 13 through young adult can make reservations to create their own masterpieces using this cutting edge technology. Days available for 3-D printing use will be Monday through Thursday between the hours of 4PM and 5:15PM. Due to complexity and time for print\, only one or two prints can be made in a day. \nForest Fun \nStart off the new year of 2017 with something familiar! Come to the Forest Library for our Dinosaur Club. Drop by between 4:30-5:30 PM on Thursday\, January 5th for this exclusive program. Kids ages 6+ can learn fascinating facts about these prehistoric creatures from a real dinosaur expert in this monthly club.
