SUMMARY:“Biding Time” at Goose Creek Studio on 2nd Friday
DESCRIPTION:Artist Shelley Koopmann creates small yet captivating oil paintings of ordinary people doing ordinary things like taking a snooze in a beach chair or checking email on a cellphone.  During the month of January\, a collection of these image titled “Biding Time” will be featured in the Old Jail Hill Art Space on the 2nd floor at Goose Creek Studio.   \nA reception with the artist will be held on 2nd Friday\, January 13\, 5:00-8:00 pm.   \nIn addition to Koopmann’s paintings\, on the first floor there will also be new work by a number of local artisans including Nancy Blankenship (pottery)\, Deena Ruiz (lampwork jewelry)\, Timothy Parker (photography)\, Des Black (woodworking)\, Linda Black (fiber art)\, and Jaret Peerson (photography). \n\nShelley Koopmann’s “Under the Watchful Eye of Napoleon”  \nFor more information\, see www.goosecreekstudio.com or call (540) 586-8482. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:February is coming up\, and so is the Bedford Public Library System’s special program\, Valentines for Veterans! Visit your local library between January 23rd and 28th to make a Valentine to show your appreciation for a veteran. Materials are provided so all you have to do is show up! Valentines will be sent from your library branch to the patients at Salem VA Medical Center. \nGet an early start on literacy this February with the Winter Reading Program! Children aged 0-5 can earn stickers during the entire month of February by reading books with their caregiver. Register at your local library branch and start working toward your special certificate as early as Wednesday\, February 1st! Don’t forget\, this can count towards their 1KB4K total! \nBedford Business\nTuesday\, January 17th is Family Movie Night at the Bedford Library. We are showing The Secret Life of Pets (PG)\, an animated film from the studio that brought you Despicable Me! Enjoy crafts at 4:45 and the movie at 5PM. Snacks provided! The movie’s running time is 1 hour 30 minutes. We hope to see you there! \nOn Thursday\, January 19th and Thursday\, January 26th\, you’re invited to the library at 4PM to learn about our 3-D printer. After this introduction\, teens ages 13 through young adult can make reservations to create their own masterpieces using this cutting edge technology. Days available for 3-D printing use will be Monday through Thursday between the hours of 4PM and 5:15PM. Due to the complexity and duration of the process\, only one or two prints can be made in a day. \nGet ready for another season of our early literacy programs\, Books 4 Fun and Rock-A-Bye Reader! Books 4 Fun begins on Tuesday\, January 24th at 10:30 AM. Rock-A-Bye Reader follows on Wednesday\, January 25th at 10:30 AM. Both programs repeat every week. B4F is a fun and engaging story and craft time for children aged 3-6. RBR provides equivalent stimulation for infants and toddlers up to 3 years of age. Jumpstart your child’s language and literacy skills with these great programs! \nCome to the library on Wednesday\, January 25th. Between 4:15 and 5:30 PM\, teens and tweens between the ages of 11-19 are invited to participate in Fashion Club. Learn about the world of fashion\, how to create your own designs\, and do cool Do It Yourself projects to make or repurpose your own clothing. Materials are provided\, but you may also bring your own. Fashion Club meets twice a month on the first and fourth Wednesday of the month. Another meeting is coming up on Wednesday\, February 1st! \nForest Fun\nGet ready for another season of our early literacy programs\, Books 4 Fun and Rock-A-Bye Reader! Starting on Tuesday\, January 24th\, children aged 3-6 are welcome to enjoy Books 4 Fun. The Forest Library holds one session at 10:30 AM on Tuesdays\, and repeats the session at the same time on Wednesdays. These sessions repeat weekly. \nRock-A-Bye Reader returns on Monday\, January 23rd. Forest holds its session for infants up to 21 months old at 10:15 AM on Mondays\, followed by a session for toddlers between 21 and 36 months at 11:15 AM. Forest holds an additional two sessions for 21-36-month-old toddlers on Thursdays at 10:15 and 11:15 AM. These sessions repeat weekly. \nJoin us at the Forest Library for LEGO® Club! From 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on January 26th\, we’re exploring our imaginations with everyone’s favorite building blocks. This club meets on the last Thursday of every month. Ages 5+ \nAre you a big fan of dinosaurs? Join the club! The Forest Library hosts a Dinosaur Club on the first Thursday of every month. Drop by between 4:30-5:30 PM on February 2nd for this exclusive program. Kids ages 6+ can learn fascinating facts about these prehistoric creatures from a real dinosaur expert in this monthly club. Thursday\, February 2nd will see the third annual Harry Potter Book Night celebrated throughout the world. Here at the Montvale Library\, we’re getting ready to host an unforgettable night.
