SUMMARY:Electric Company Art Gallery ~ Delmus Phelps - Journey to Create Beauty
DESCRIPTION:Delmus Phelps\, of Lynchburg Virginia has been an active painter since the mid 70’s creating works in the Realist tradition. \nBeing inspired by the nature around him and in things we tend to collect. Delmus produces still life and floral oil paintings in the Classical/Contemporary Style on canvas and panels. With a particular interest in sharp focus realism\, he produces still life works of incredible detail. His floral pieces exude a peace and serenity much needed in today’s hectic lifestyles. \n  \nHis goal\, as an artist\, is to provide his customer with an aesthetically pleasing picture. He also does an occasional landscape after riding his motorcycle through the Blue Ridge Parkway. These landscapes also reflect the beauty he sees in so many things. With Corporate and Private Collectors (some international) his art is well received. He also has a teaching website that explores the many processes used in both today’s paintings and yesteryear. Delmus uses a 14th Century Flemish\, multi-layered technique to produce his work. He is represented in several Central Virginia Galleries and on the web. His works will be enjoyed for generations. \nThe Electric Company Art Gallery on 207 E. Depot St. in Bedford is happy to present his works for the month of July. \nPlease come by\, 2nd Friday\, July 14th and come join us in this journey to discover beauty. Free Open reception: 5 PM to 8 PM. \n

And on their debut with Compass Records\, Turn Your Face to the Sun\, released April 21\, 2017\, the band adds even more depth to their sound and songwriting\, capturing I Draw Slow at their best — when they’re all together\, separated only by air. \nThe band first drew attention beyond Ireland’s shores with their 2011 release\, Redhills. Fueled by a prominent Spotify playlist placement and a video suggesting both 1890s bordello and 1920s speakeasy\, the song “Goldmine” became the album’s breakout track. Their follow-up album\, 2014’s White Wave Chapel\, reached No. 2 on Ireland’s iTunes chart\, driven in part by the video for “Valentine\,” which featured Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen. \nIn the meantime\, they established themselves as festival standouts\, appearing at MerleFest\, Pickathon\, Wintergrass\, RockyGrass\, Grey Fox\, Red Wing\, Edmonton Folk Fest and High Sierra Music Festival to name a few. They’ve also appeared on many radio shows\, including the syndicated “Mountain Stage.” \n“…it seems a matter of time before I Draw Slow will dominate the global folk scene.” – Peter McGuire\, Huffington Post UK \n“For an all-acoustic group\, I Draw Slow sure do have a fully realized sound. May we recommend ‘Valentine\,’ ‘Grand Hotel\,’ and ‘Don’t She Run.'” – The Bluegrass Situation \n“It’s as gritty as it is beautiful.” – CMT Edge
