DESCRIPTION:Experience a moment in American history at Poplar Forest’s 17th annual presentation of Conversations with Thomas Jefferson. Sit in on a private and wide-ranging conversation between Jefferson\, as portrayed by actor Bill Barker\, and one of his compatriots as they discuss their shared experiences as revolutionaries\, political colleagues\, friends and neighbors. Past guests have included Eliza Schuyler Hamilton\, James Monroe and Andrew Jackson to name but a few. Presented in two performances only: \nMatinee performance at 2:15 p.m.\, preceded by a reception at 1:30 p.m. \nEvening performance at 7:30 p.m.\, preceded by a reception at 6:30 p.m. \nTickets for the matinee performance include a pre-theater reception: $32 for adults (over 16) and $14 for youth (ages 6 – 16). House tours can be added at the reduced rate of $9 per person. Tickets for the evening performance include a pre-theater reception and house tour: $37 for adults (over 16) and $14 for youth (ages 6 – 16); reservations are suggested.

SUMMARY:Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Game
DESCRIPTION:The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST) will conduct a tour of Virginia in April playing multiple cities\, with the grand finale event happening in Bedford with an exciting double-header vs. Bedford County First Responders. The opening ceremony will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday\, April 28 with the first game starting at 1 p.m. \nThe WWAST consists of men and women\, both veterans and active duty soldiers\, from all service branches\, who have sustained injuries resulting in amputation. Through extensive rehabilitation\, they have become competitive athletes\, playing against teams across the country in competitive\, celebrity\, and exhibition games. Come out and help honor our heroes and cheer them on as they travel the Commonwealth. \nThis is a family-friendly event and helps the WWAST raise awareness and funds for their signature event\, the WWAST Kids Camp\, which empowers young boys and girls with amputations.
