SUMMARY:Judy Lochbrunner and Mary Anne Meador at Goose Creek on 2nd Friday
DESCRIPTION:Local artists Judy Lochbrunner and Mary Anne Meador will be featured at Goose Creek Studio during 2nd Friday\, July 13\, 5-8 pm.  As longtime creative partners with Goose Creek Studio\, Lochbrunner and Meador worked with the gallery owners to create new work that showcases their love of color and texture. \nFor this exhibition\, Judy Lochbrunner expands on a theme she started exploring over a year ago.  Using views of the Blueridge Parkway and a visual starting point\, she abstracts a very familiar local vista.  In these bold and colorful color field paintings\, the horizon line hugs the top of the canvas suggesting a view from deep within the valley.  “The landscape here in central Virginia is so different from my previous home in Texas in which the sky dominated the view in all directions\,” says Lochbrunner. \nWhile Mary Anne Meador’s work also celebrates color and texture\, many of her works start with expressions of pure non representational abstraction .  Meador literally “pours” paint onto a canvas.  But what is experimental and looks to be random or without control\, is manipulated in ways that a paint brush cannot do.  “This is not necessarily random\, but just a different method of manipulating the paint\,” says Meador.  Some of Meador’s “pours” remains abstraction\, and some become the underpainting for more representational work. \nGoose Creek Studio Gallery and Custom Framing is located at 302 Court Street in Bedford.\nFor more information\, see www.goosecreekstudio.com or call (540) 586-8482.
