Learn owl calls and how to confidently identify all Virginia owls by sound!\nThe hike will be about a mile with frequent breaks. No flashlights or cell phone lights will be permitted\, as they interfere with night vision and some of the experiments. It will be dusk when you begin and dark by the time the hike concludes. This program is appropriate for children 6 and up. SUMMARY:Festival of Trees
DESCRIPTION:Festival of Trees at the Bedford Area Welcome Center is an annual event that takes place around the end of November through the first week of January. “A Storybook Christmas” is the theme for this year. The event will feature trees that are decorated by local businesses and organizations. Visitors are encouraged to come by the Welcome Center and vote for their favorite tree(s) for only $1.00/vote. At the conclusion of the event\, all proceeds will benefit the charitable organizations designated by the businesses.  There are no winners and no losers of this event\, everyone has an equal opportunity to raise money for their selected charity and they will keep whatever amount they raise. The Festival of Trees is a festive family friendly event to celebrate the season while helping causes important to the community.

DESCRIPTION:Festival of Trees at the Bedford Area Welcome Center is an annual event that takes place around the end of November through the first week of January. “A Storybook Christmas” is the theme for this year. The event will feature trees that are decorated by local businesses and organizations. Visitors are encouraged to come by the Welcome Center and vote for their favorite tree(s) for only $1.00/vote. At the conclusion of the event\, all proceeds will benefit the charitable organizations designated by the businesses.  There are no winners and no losers of this event\, everyone has an equal opportunity to raise money for their selected charity and they will keep whatever amount they raise. The Festival of Trees is a festive family friendly event to celebrate the season while helping causes important to the community.

DESCRIPTION:This annual craft vendor event has become very popular and a much anticipated event every year. The event takes place on Mayhew Farm in the shadow of the Peaks of Otter mountains. Guests will enjoy shopping for unique craft and artisan items\, all made by kids! The event is both indoors and outdoors with parking on site.  \nThe motto of the event is “Kids Helping Kids”\, so while there is no admission fee\, donations of non-perishable food items as well as monetary donations are accepted to help the local “Food For Kids” program (a weekend pack-a-sack program that feeds children from several of our area schools).  Event will be held rain or shine. \nClick here for more information.
