DESCRIPTION:As part of the 5th Annual Art Studio and Gallery Tour in the Town of Bedford – Sunday\, December 4\, 1-5 pm – Goose Creek Studio will be presenting a special exhibit by local folk art painter Carol Burnett.  Burnett has selected 13 of her paintings – one for each month of the year plus one for the cover – to be included in a 2017 wall calendar.  The exhibit\, titled “Through the Year\,” will feature the original paintings which\, along with the calendars\, will be for sale. \n Carol Burnett was always drawing as a child. At the age of 60\, and after many years of running local antique shops\, she decided to return to painting.  Burnett calls the style of her work a naïve type of folk art.  She works in a variety of mediums that include both drawings and paintings in a mixed palette of pen and ink\, watercolor\, marker\, acrylic and pastel.  Much of her work celebrates the nostalgia of the country landscape\, family life or women’s fashions. \n Goose Creek Studio is located at 302 Court Street in Bedford.  For more information\, see or call (540) 586-8482. \n

DESCRIPTION:Thomas Jefferson called wine “…a necessary of life with me.” This November\, thousands of like-minded wine enthusiasts will gather at his secluded plantation to toast the “Father of Virginia Wine” in the eighth annual Thomas Jefferson Wine Festival. \nThe festival will feature Virginia wineries along with artisans\, local food purveyors and musical entertainment. It is held inside large\, heated tents\, rain or shine. Tasting tickets include a complimentary wine glass. Because this is an adult event\, there are no children’s activities available. We ask that attendees refrain from bringing outside food or drink. With the exception of service dogs\, pets are prohibited. Hotel packages will be available. \nVIP TENT\n                This special tent will be set up in the center of Mr. Jefferson’s south lawn.
