DESCRIPTION:Ken Horne and Allison Johnson will perform at the Bower Center on Saturday September 17th beginning at 7:30 PM.   Tickets are $10 in advance bought at lynchburgtickets.com or Bower Center.   Tickets at the door are $12.  The price of the tickets is kept low because of the Town of Bedford’s Government Challenge Grant and the VCA. \nKen and Alli treat their audiences to a show spanning several centuries and many genres of American folk music. From contemporary Americana to sixteenth-century Childe ballads\, from classic blues to country music standards\, they offer a variety of musical flavors. Ken Horne and Allison Johnson perform as the vocal duet “Ken and Alli”. Their stage show spans several centuries and many genres of American folk music. From contemporary Americana to sixteenth century Childe ballads\, from classic blues to country music standards (and some that ought to be)\, Ken and Alli offer a variety of musical styles and arrangements that can only be described as delightfully eclectic. Allison’s sparkling lead vocals and intricate harmonies blend perfectly with Ken’s rich baritone. Accompanied by finger style guitar and six string banjo with an occasional harmonica bit thrown in\, Ken and Alli create an evening of music that is entertaining\, inspirational\, and mostly\, a whole lot of fun.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Jim Cameron Memorial Walk will be held at scenic Smith Mountain Lake State Park for the benefit of Lake Christian Ministries. Jim Cameron\, LCM’s Executive Director from 2003-2010\, was renowned for his tireless efforts managing day-to-day operations of the Ministry as well as his passionate dedication to helping those in need. All proceeds from the JCMW will be utilized by Lake Christian Ministries to help our neighbors in need in the SML area. Lake Christian Ministries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization\, located on Old Moneta Road in Moneta. Since 1992\, LCM has been providing food\, clothing and emergency financial aid to lake-area residents from Bedford\, Franklin\, and Pittsylvania counties. \nFor more information about the JCMW or to become involved as a walker\, team leader\, sponsor\, patron\, or volunteer \, please contact Bart Matthies at (540) 912-9141 or Lynda Imirie at (540) 721-3492. After June\, registration and forms should be available online at our website. \nMost walkers are with teams from businesses\, churches\, service clubs\, neighborhoods\, etc.\, but there are many individuals also\, who gather pledges July-August\, then collect the pledges the first two weeks of September\, and turn them in to complete preregistration. Others turn in their collected pledges at registration on the day of the walk.  The 5K or 10K Walks begin and end at the Smith Mountain Lake State Park beach area.
