Much of the artwork is for sale and awaiting its new home in yours. \nDr. Bower’s love for the Bedford community and desire for an inclusive art center inspired this unique judged exhibit\, accepting all artist entries and offering a platform for all who wish to participate. This exhibit proves each year to be varied and exciting for all ages. \nExhibit entry is free.

DESCRIPTION:The Bower Center will host an awards reception for the 8th Annual Edna Curry/John Bower exhibit on the evening of Friday\, February 11 in the Sara Braaten Gallery. 43 artists from five states (VA\, SC\, NC\, IL\, KS) submitted 112 artworks\, include painting\, fiber\, sculpture\, mosaics\, photography\, mixed media\, collage\, and stained glass. The judge’s comments\, followed by the award and recognition presentations\, will begin at 6 p.m. \nArtworks in the 8th Annual Edna Curry /John Bower exhibit are in both the Sara Braaten Gallery & Lobby and Terrace Gallery/Lobby\, plus the main entrance lobby\, and will be displayed through Saturday\, March 12.

DESCRIPTION:Following a brief winter break\, Poplar Forest reopens to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from January 15 to March 13\, with guided tours offered every hour beginning at 10:30 a.m. Explore the octagonal villa Jefferson designed as his personal retreat\, walk the plantation grounds\, visit the slave quarter site\, shop in the Museum Shop and browse the exhibits in the lower level of the house.\nAdmission to Winter Weekends is $18 for adults; $16 for seniors (ages 65+) and military (must show ID); $10 for college students (must show ID) and teens (ages 12 -18); $6 for youth (ages 6-11); and free for children under age 6 and Poplar Forest members. Tour tickets available online at www.poplarforest.org/tickets.\nGrounds Only admission rates are available\, which include all grounds and self-guided exhibits\, but do not allow for access into the main level of Jefferson’s villa. $10 for Adults (ages 13+); $5 for Youth (ages 6-12); free for children under age 6. DESCRIPTION:Following a brief winter break\, Poplar Forest reopens to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from January 15 to March 13\, with guided tours offered every hour beginning at 10:30 a.m. Explore the octagonal villa Jefferson designed as his personal retreat\, walk the plantation grounds\, visit the slave quarter site\, shop in the Museum Shop and browse the exhibits in the lower level of the house.\nAdmission to Winter Weekends is $18 for adults; $16 for seniors (ages 65+) and military (must show ID); $10 for college students (must show ID) and teens (ages 12 -18); $6 for youth (ages 6-11); and free for children under age 6 and Poplar Forest members. Tour tickets available online at www.poplarforest.org/tickets.\nGrounds Only admission rates are available\, which include all grounds and self-guided exhibits\, but do not allow for access into the main level of Jefferson’s villa. $10 for Adults (ages 13+); $5 for Youth (ages 6-12); free for children under age 6.
