Yet it stands to reason that no one was getting anywhere near Normandy without a strong naval presence. \nIn his presentation James Ransom\, Capt.\, USN (Ret.) will look at the varied naval operations and requirements for the largest seaborne invasion in history; at what went right and what went wrong in transporting 150\,000 soldiers to Normandy on D-Day. Historic plaster restoration specialists will rework the ceilings using the same materials and techniques used by Jefferson’s craftsmen in the 1800s.
