SUMMARY:Electric Company Art Gallery ~ Delmus Phelps - Journey to Create Beauty
DESCRIPTION:Delmus Phelps\, of Lynchburg Virginia has been an active painter since the mid 70’s creating works in the Realist tradition. \nBeing inspired by the nature around him and in things we tend to collect. Delmus produces still life and floral oil paintings in the Classical/Contemporary Style on canvas and panels. With a particular interest in sharp focus realism\, he produces still life works of incredible detail. His floral pieces exude a peace and serenity much needed in today’s hectic lifestyles. \n  \nHis goal\, as an artist\, is to provide his customer with an aesthetically pleasing picture. He also does an occasional landscape after riding his motorcycle through the Blue Ridge Parkway. These landscapes also reflect the beauty he sees in so many things. With Corporate and Private Collectors (some international) his art is well received. He also has a teaching website that explores the many processes used in both today’s paintings and yesteryear. Delmus uses a 14th Century Flemish\, multi-layered technique to produce his work. He is represented in several Central Virginia Galleries and on the web. His works will be enjoyed for generations. \nThe Electric Company Art Gallery on 207 E. Depot St. in Bedford is happy to present his works for the month of July. \nPlease come by\, 2nd Friday\, July 14th and come join us in this journey to discover beauty. Free Open reception: 5 PM to 8 PM. \n

SUMMARY:13th annual “Horse and Hound” Wine Festival
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy wine from some of Virginia’s finest wineries while listening to good music and visiting art\, craft and food vendors. Virginia’s most unique wine festival has numerous events throughout the day with horses and dogs as the primary attractions such as the Parade of  Horses\, lure course and muskrat racing.  Families will enjoy this festival because it appeals to both young and old and we have a Kiddie Korral.  The event takes place on the spacious and gracious grounds of Johnson’s Orchards & Peaks of Otter Winery 2122 Sheep Creek Rd\, Bedford Va 24523 with spectacular Blue Ridge mountain views. 11am-6pm \n Lure Coursing\nThere will be a demonstration of Lure Coursing given by Laura Cormier. Lure coursing is a humane sport which recreates the chase of the hare by the pursuing hound. The “bunny” consists of strips of white plastic attached to a continuous loop line that runs through a series of pulleys to simulate the zigzag path of a rabbit on the run \nMuskrat Races\nThis event uses the Jack Russell Terrier’s highly developed prey drive to swim through water in pursuit of an artificial lure. \nDogs of all shapes and sizes are invited to swim across the pond in pursuit of an artificial lure. There will be three divisions of competition: small\, medium\, and large dogs. The winner in each division will receive a trophy \nParade of Horses\nProvided and directed by Reba Farm Inn and Saddle Soar Equitainment.\nThe Horse parade will continue to be a crowd pleaser with a wide variety of horses to be exhibited. In addition there will be new and exciting events such as: featured wild horses from the herd on the outer banks\, N.C. and a Chincoteague pony from Virginia’s Assateague Island. \n Kiddie Korral\n Supervised activities for children simulating rodeo games and quiet games as well throughout the day. Supervision by the staff and volunteers of  Brook Hill Farm Rehabilitation and Rescue \nPart of the proceeds will benefit 501-3c organizations that benefit horses and dogs. 11am-6pm

SUMMARY:I Draw Slow Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join the Friends of the Bedford Public Library on Friday\, July 14\, at 7:30 p.m. as they host in concert\, I Draw Slow\, from Dublin\, Ireland. The concert\, held in the Bedford Room of Bedford Central Library is open to the public\, with a ticket price of $15.00 per person; collected at the door or purchased in advance through http://www.lynchburgtickets.com/ Seating is limited.  For more information\, call 540-586-8911\, or visit www.friendsofbedfordlibrary.org.  Join us and bring a friend or two! \nI Draw Slow hits #1 on the Irish Independent Charts with their new release Turn Your Face to the Sun! \nCheck out this video of “Valentine” featuring Aidan Gillen from the 2014 Release\, White Wave Chapel\, with over 50\,000 views. —>>>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16kHhHK5OKc&feature=youtu.be \nDublin\, Ireland’s I Draw Slow has already won the adoration of fans in their home country and North America by combining American folk and Irish storytelling traditions with close-harmony vocals\, intriguing instrumentation and compelling subject matter. And on their debut with Compass Records\, Turn Your Face to the Sun\, released April 21\, 2017\, the band adds even more depth to their sound and songwriting\, capturing I Draw Slow at their best — when they’re all together\, separated only by air. \nThe band first drew attention beyond Ireland’s shores with their 2011 release\, Redhills. Fueled by a prominent Spotify playlist placement and a video suggesting both 1890s bordello and 1920s speakeasy\, the song “Goldmine” became the album’s breakout track. Their follow-up album\, 2014’s White Wave Chapel\, reached No. 2 on Ireland’s iTunes chart\, driven in part by the video for “Valentine\,” which featured Game of Thrones star Aidan Gillen. \nIn the meantime\, they established themselves as festival standouts\, appearing at MerleFest\, Pickathon\, Wintergrass\, RockyGrass\, Grey Fox\, Red Wing\, Edmonton Folk Fest and High Sierra Music Festival to name a few. They’ve also appeared on many radio shows\, including the syndicated “Mountain Stage.” \n“…it seems a matter of time before I Draw Slow will dominate the global folk scene.” – Peter McGuire\, Huffington Post UK \n“For an all-acoustic group\, I Draw Slow sure do have a fully realized sound. May we recommend ‘Valentine\,’ ‘Grand Hotel\,’ and ‘Don’t She Run.'” – The Bluegrass Situation \n“It’s as gritty as it is beautiful.” – CMT Edge
