McLaren Jr. who served in the United States Army from 1974 to 2011\, retiring at the rank of Major General\, with more than thirty-seven years of active and reserve status service.  \nFollowing the main ceremony\, the National D-Day Memorial will dedicate a newly constructed shelter\, specifically designed to protect the Memorial’s authentic 1944 “Higgins boat”\, one of only a few surviving examples of an LCVP manufactured by Higgins Industries of New Orleans during the war. \nFree admission until noon. Guided tours begin at 1PM. Please bring your own chair. No food in plaza. No pets (service animals welcome). \nThis event will also be livestreamed.  Click here to watch.

DESCRIPTION:$5 admission for Scouts and Scout leaders.\nAdmission includes hands-on activities\, a guided tour of the National D-Day Memorial\, and a special edition D-Day scouting patch! \nScout Day stations will be open between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and you will get to choose your tour time when purchasing tickets. This will give troops flexibility in scheduling their visit to participate in stations before or after the tour. A vendor will be on site selling food and drink during the event\, as well. \nMERIT BADGE PROGRAMS:\nFor an additional fee of $5 per Boy Scout\, we will offer an American Heritage merit badge program from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bedford Area Welcome Center. Space is limited for the afternoon programs to the first 40 scouts. Only scouts need to purchase tickets for these programs. Parents and scout leaders are free for these programs. \nThere will not be a Girl Scout badge program offered in 2020. \nAdvance registration and pre-payment is preferred by Friday\, March 13\, 2020. Space is limited and programs and tours will sell out. No refunds will be given.
