Friends of Smith Mountain Lake State Park\, Inc. is a volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the use\, enjoyment and appreciation of the Park. All proceeds will go to benefit programs at the Park and foster environmental stewardship and education. \nThe event will be a 5K run/walk or a 10K run for participants of all ages and activity levels. Also\, your parking pass to Smith Mountain Lake State Park\, on the days of the tournament\, will be free if you mention that you are visiting because of the tournament.  \nSupport the Bedford Hospice House \nAll proceeds of this tournament will benefit the Centra Hospice House in Bedford. The house was built by the community of Bedford and is operated by Centra Hospice. The house provides end-of-life care to those who do not have the means to receive proper care at home. No one is denied admission to the house due to inability to pay\, and because of this\, most of the care is funded by charity.  \n\n\n\n\n\nPRIZES \nAll prizes have been donated by generous companies both locally and nationally! \nFor more information\, click here!

SUMMARY:SML State Park Open House
DESCRIPTION:There’s no better way to start the new year than a visit to Smith Mountain Lake. The Discovery Center will be open after the First Day Hike. Bring the whole family and stop by for hot cocoa and treats. Spend some time exploring the Discovery Room and learn about the history of the lake and of our state parks. Find out about all the exciting programs and events that will be offered at the park in the coming year. Event is free.

SUMMARY:Wildlife Pontoon Boat Tour
DESCRIPTION:Ride with a park guide as you experience the shores of Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Experience an enjoyable ride on the lake and keep a lookout for waterfowl and other natural lake residents. Wildlife you might catch a glimpse of include deer\, turtles\, fish\, osprey\, ducks\, great blue heron\, or even a bald eagle. You will make stops to take in the scenery and for photo opportunities.  \nPre-registration required at the Smith Mountain Lake State Park Visitor Center. Space is limited. Registration for this event opens one week prior to date of each tour and closes at 4 p.m. the day before each tour. Event is free\, but regular parking fees apply. DESCRIPTION:Bring the whole family to Smith Mountain Lake’s Beach Pavilion for an evening of great music with the “The Hardtimes Band”. The Old Dominion Cloggers from Martinsville\, Va.\, will also entertain. Hot dogs\, sausages\, ice cream\, drinks and other refreshments will be for sale. $7 per person\, and kids 12 and under get in free. Don’t forget lawn chairs. (Parking fee included.)
