This is the 4h Fishing for Hospice fishing tournament put on by Centra Hospice. This is a “Catch\, Photo\, Release” style tournament\, meaning that once a fish is caught\, take a photo of you measuring it (showing an accurate measurement of the fish in your photo)\, and text (434-665-6293) or email (benjamin.osterkamp@centrahealth.com) it to our tournament. The winning fish will be based on their length. For $25 or less\, you can participate in this tournament. Also\, your parking pass to Smith Mountain Lake State Park\, on the days of the tournament\, will be free if you mention that you are visiting because of the tournament.  \nSupport the Bedford Hospice House \nAll proceeds of this tournament will benefit the Centra Hospice House in Bedford. The house was built by the community of Bedford and is operated by Centra Hospice. The house provides end-of-life care to those who do not have the means to receive proper care at home. No one is denied admission to the house due to inability to pay\, and because of this\, most of the care is funded by charity.  \n\n\n\n\n\nPRIZES \nAll prizes have been donated by generous companies both locally and nationally! \nFor more information\, click here!

Experience an enjoyable ride on the lake and keep a lookout for waterfowl and other natural lake residents. You will make stops to take in the scenery and for photo opportunities.  \nPre-registration required at the Smith Mountain Lake State Park Visitor Center. Space is limited. Registration for this event opens one week prior to date of each tour and closes at 4 p.m. the day before each tour. Event is free\, but regular parking fees apply. DESCRIPTION:The Smith Mountain Lake Triathlon is the first triathlon of the year in the western part of the state of Virginia. Staged out of beautiful Smith Mountain Lake State Park this triathlon classic has clear water\, mountain views and fun courses. The swim features a sandy beach start and a crisp\, clear lake. The bike and run courses are rolling\, but not too challenging. This is a great race if you are just starting out in the sport\, or have been racing for 20 years. Smith Mountain Lake is home to numerous lodging options and attractions. There is great trail running in the park and plenty of  rural country roads for biking. There are numerous places to stay in the area\, including cabins\, vacation homes\, B&Bs\, campgrounds/RV parks\, and Mariners Landing Resort is only a mile from the State Park\, offering all waterfront condos! There are many great local restaurants and wineries in the area\, and about 20 minutes away is the National D-Day Memorial which you don’t want to miss. The area is worth exploring and the race needs to be on your “racecation” bucket list. \nRegister here.  \n
