Helen Hubler

Helen has been drawing and painting in oil for over 52 years. She began to do both at the Art Students’ League in NYC in 1963, and has been at it ever since! She’s still growing and still challenged and responding with enthusiasm to what she sees. Her pencil drawings are intricate and delicate. These works are somewhat unlike her paintings. Helen has made pencil drawings of many of the works she’s done in oil.

She has had illustration jobs, including doing the pen and ink drawings for two W.W. Norton books and illustrated a children’s book. She also became a commercial artist at a point in time of her artistic career, learning to design ads and brochures as well as to do paste-ups and mechanicals.

1992 Helen moved to Virginia, and went to work for “The Roanoke Times” and there learned to do graphic design on computer at newspaper.
