February is coming up, and so is the Bedford Public Library System’s special program, Valentines for Veterans! Visit your local library between January 23rd and 28th to make a Valentine to show your appreciation for a veteran. Materials are provided so all you have to do is show up! Valentines will be sent from your library branch to the patients at Salem VA Medical Center.

Get an early start on literacy this February with the Winter Reading Program! Children aged 0-5 can earn stickers during the entire month of February by reading books with their caregiver. Register at your local library branch and start working toward your special certificate as early as Wednesday, February 1st! Don’t forget, this can count towards their 1KB4K total!

Bedford Business
Tuesday, January 17th is Family Movie Night at the Bedford Library. We are showing The Secret Life of Pets (PG), an animated film from the studio that brought you Despicable Me! Enjoy crafts at 4:45 and the movie at 5PM. Snacks provided! The movie’s running time is 1 hour 30 minutes. We hope to see you there!

On Thursday, January 19th and Thursday, January 26th, you’re invited to the library at 4PM to learn about our 3-D printer. After this introduction, teens ages 13 through young adult can make reservations to create their own masterpieces using this cutting edge technology. Days available for 3-D printing use will be Monday through Thursday between the hours of 4PM and 5:15PM. Due to the complexity and duration of the process, only one or two prints can be made in a day.

Get ready for another season of our early literacy programs, Books 4 Fun and Rock-A-Bye Reader! Books 4 Fun begins on Tuesday, January 24th at 10:30 AM. Rock-A-Bye Reader follows on Wednesday, January 25th at 10:30 AM. Both programs repeat every week. B4F is a fun and engaging story and craft time for children aged 3-6. RBR provides equivalent stimulation for infants and toddlers up to 3 years of age. Jumpstart your child’s language and literacy skills with these great programs!

Come to the library on Wednesday, January 25th. Between 4:15 and 5:30 PM, teens and tweens between the ages of 11-19 are invited to participate in Fashion Club. Learn about the world of fashion, how to create your own designs, and do cool Do It Yourself projects to make or repurpose your own clothing. Materials are provided, but you may also bring your own. Fashion Club meets twice a month on the first and fourth Wednesday of the month. Another meeting is coming up on Wednesday, February 1st!

Forest Fun
Get ready for another season of our early literacy programs, Books 4 Fun and Rock-A-Bye Reader! Starting on Tuesday, January 24th, children aged 3-6 are welcome to enjoy Books 4 Fun. The Forest Library holds one session at 10:30 AM on Tuesdays, and repeats the session at the same time on Wednesdays. These sessions repeat weekly.

Rock-A-Bye Reader returns on Monday, January 23rd. Forest holds its session for infants up to 21 months old at 10:15 AM on Mondays, followed by a session for toddlers between 21 and 36 months at 11:15 AM. Forest holds an additional two sessions for 21-36-month-old toddlers on Thursdays at 10:15 and 11:15 AM. These sessions repeat weekly.

Join us at the Forest Library for LEGO® Club! From 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on January 26th, we’re exploring our imaginations with everyone’s favorite building blocks. This club meets on the last Thursday of every month. Ages 5+

Are you a big fan of dinosaurs? Join the club! The Forest Library hosts a Dinosaur Club on the first Thursday of every month. Drop by between 4:30-5:30 PM on February 2nd for this exclusive program. Kids ages 6+ can learn fascinating facts about these prehistoric creatures from a real dinosaur expert in this monthly club. Visit the library or call (540) 425-7002 to register.

Moneta Merriment
Rock-A-Bye Reader and Books 4 Fun are back for another season. Books 4 Fun resumes on Tuesday, January 24th. Children aged 3-6 can participate in Books 4 Fun every Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Crafts, stories, and music will keep your child engaged and entertained! Rock-A-Bye Reader begins at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 23rd and repeats every week. Infants and toddlers up to 3 years of age can enjoy stories and music at this early literacy program.

Mark your calendar for Thursday, January 26th; the Moneta/SML Library is showing The Secret Life of Pets (PG), an animated film from the studio that brought you Despicable Me. Arrive at 5:30 PM for crafts, and enjoy snacks and the movie at 6PM. The running time is 1 hour 30 minutes.

Big Island Antics
The LEGO club meets again at the library on Friday, January 20th between 3-4PM. Build something great from your imagination, or accept the challenge of the month! If you can’t make it, come back on Saturday the 21st between 10:30-11:30 AM for another chance. Bring your friends! Ages 5+

Rock-A-Bye Reader and Books 4 Fun are back for another season. Rock-A-Bye Reader is a fun and educational story time for infants and toddlers up to 3 years of age. This program begins at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 23rd and repeats every week. Older children between 3 and 6 years do not have to miss out; Books 4 Fun starts at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 26th and repeats every week. Children can enjoy rhymes, stories, music, and crafts!

Come to the Big Island Library for Tuesday Teen Time! On January 24th we are playing games and snacking on junk food from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.

We’re starting the month of February with another Friday Film, Finding Dory (PG). Join us at 3PM on February 3rd for the exciting sequel to Finding Nemo, and enjoy a free snack!

Montvale Marvels
Books 4 Fun and Montvale’s exclusive early literacy program, Mother Goose on the Loose, are back for another season. Books 4 Fun begins at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 24th. Children aged 3-6 can have a fine time with music, stories, and crafts in this weekly program. Mother Goose on the Loose is a story time designed to prepare your infant or toddler for a successful future of reading and writing. This program resumes on Thursday, January 26th at 10:30 AM and repeats weekly.

We’re celebrating Harry Potter Book Night at the Montvale Library! Thursday, February 2nd will see the third annual Harry Potter Book Night celebrated throughout the world. Here at the Montvale Library, we’re getting ready to host an unforgettable night. The fun kicks off at 5PM.

We’ll be sharing the wonder of J.K. Rowling’s best-selling stories and introducing the next generation of readers to the unparalleled magic of Harry Potter. Here at the Montvale Library, young wizards, witches, and Muggles will be treated to an evening of games, activities, readings, and quizzes. Registration required, space is limited. It’s time for another Teen Night at the Montvale Library! Between 5PM and 7PM on Friday, February 3rd, we’ll be playing Xbox games, hanging out with friends, and enjoying tasty snacks!

Stewartsville Spectaculars
Books 4 Fun and Rock-A-Bye Reader are back for another season. Books 4 Fun begins at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 23rd and repeats every week. Children aged 3-6 are invited to enjoy stories, rhythm, crafts, and music with their peers. Infants and toddlers up to the age of 3 are welcome to enjoy similar activities at the Rock-A-Bye Reader program, which begins at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 27th and repeats every week.

The Stewartsville Library has an exciting event in store on Thursday, February 2nd! Fans old and new are invited to celebrate the magical world of Harry Potter with a variety of activities and treats. Join us between 3:30 and 4:30 PM to celebrate this best-selling series with other fans and make new friends! Please call (540) 425-7008 ext. 3 to register. Ages 8-14
