
Children’s Nature Festival

This free event offers a full day of fun, learning, and hands-on activities for all ages. Scheduled events include live music by Sara Ernst in the Husted Pavilion from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Children’s Yoga with Kathy Graham at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m., and a guided visit to the vernal pool with a Master Naturalist at 12:30 p.m. Throughout the day, guests can participate in a variety of engaging activities, including planting a majestic chestnut tree with the Virginia Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation, exploring astronomy with the Cloverlea Foundation, and enjoying imaginative nature play in “Otter Space” with the Friends of the Blue Ridge Peaks of Otter Chapter.
Visitors can also scatter wildflower seeds with Little Otter Flower Farm to support local pollinators, meet native animal ambassadors from the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center, learn about amphibians with the Central Virginia Master Naturalists, create nature-inspired art with the Bedford Central Library, discover what hikers carry on the Appalachian Trail with the Natural Bridge AT Club, and paint floral masterpieces with the Bower Center. Food will be available for purchase, including lunch and sweet treats from The Raven Wood Fired Pizza and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
