Masquerade Exhibition @ the Bower Center
April 17, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Masquerade … what ideas does this conjure up? … Mystery? Intrigue Fear? Excitement? Fun? There are culturally diverse masks; Hawaiian, Polynesian, African, Native American, Asian, and Carnival and Mardi Gras masks worn in parades and parties. Many are very elaborate as are the Venetian ones and others are just fun and may look like animal faces.
AND … consider this … how animals and birds blend into nature because of their color and skin patterns – this camouflage and concealment is a form of masquerade that serves as protection! Whether you work in 2-D or 3-D it’s time to have some fun with an intriguing subject matter … whether it’s a 3D mask or 2-D artwork showing a party or parade in full swing or a still life of masks … let your imagination go wild with Masquerade!
