Join Goose Creek Studios for the celebration of their current show “Scotty: A Retrospective of Art by Warner T. Scott” This show includes early art school projects, graphic work from Warner’s 37 years as an artist at Piedmont Label, photography of the local area, drawings and models of historic building in downtown Bedford, recreated signs from bygone downtown businesses, and graphic works for community organizations and downtown redevelopment. His two published books of photography juxtaposing historic and contemporary buildings and street scenes “Bedford, Past and Present” will also be on display and for sale.
It is rare to be able to exhibit such a vast assortment of work from a single artist. This fun and quirky collection gives us insights into the creative process, the required technical skills, and the evolution of the artist’s vision. Especially when looking at the graphic work, we get a glimpse into the complexity of the pre-computerized graphic design process.
But most importantly, Warner’s collections and his generosity show us just how much an artist can contribute to a community’s sense of identity and pride. In this show we not only see the evolution of Warner Scott as an artist, but we also see the evolution of Bedford and how the town has responded to ever-changing trends and demographics. Warner’s work mirrors a half century of Bedford growth.
