Night Hike at Claytor Nature Center
- This event has passed.
November 5, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
This program gives people the opportunity to experience the outdoors after dark and to investigate the adaptations that allow bats to be active at night. We may see and hear bats and other animals that are not often encountered in the daytime. There will be discussions about the unique habitat that bats require to thrive and the threats and competition that they face.
The hike will be about a mile with frequent breaks. No flashlights or cell phone lights will be permitted, as they interfere with night vision and some of the experiments that we will be conducting. It will be dusk when we begin and dark by the time the hike concludes. This program is appropriate for children 6 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
