Stargazing at Poplar Forest

One of America’s first astronomers, Thomas Jefferson considered the study of the stars one of the most important disciplines. Join Dr. Neal Sumerlin, former director of the Belk Astronomical Observatory at the Claytor Nature Study Center at Lynchburg College, for an illuminating look at Saturn and other prominent features in the night sky from the south lawn of the president’s secluded retreat. A brief introduction in the orientation center will precede the viewing.

Advance reservations are required and can be made below or by calling the Museum Shop at 434.534.8120. Admission is $10 per person.
