TRIBE: Survival 101 – Fire
- This event has passed.
May 14 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This is a FREE family friendly skill clinic to learn outdoor skills regarding FIRE!
All ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate! Smores 101!
Whether you are a casual hiker, weekend warrior, or serious outdoorsmen, live in the country or the city, these soft and hard skills are universal to survive and thrive in any given scenario, whether it be just daily living, recreational camping, or wilderness survival.
We will meet at the Falling Creek Bike Park in Bedford. Enter Falling Creek park across from the sheriffs office, at the roundabout take a left and at the end of the road is the bike park in a gravel parking lot. You will see a shelter and our fire ring will be just past it.
The session will start at 6:00pm, feel free to come early and eat dinner and explore the park beforehand.
Some of the topics we will cover:
Fire Safety
Fuel Sources
Fire Foundations
Site Location
Warmth vs. Cooking
Starting Methods
Primitive Fire Methods
Fire for Signaling
Smores!
We will provide some handouts with helpful information as well.
This session is led by Lee Wittekind, Bedford Co. Parks and Rec’s Outdoor Event and Outreach Coordinator.
