Civil War Trails
The Civil War Trails program is a non-profit organization which began in Virginia and has now expanded to Tennessee, Maryland, West Virginia and North Carolina. This grassroots program is supported by community leaders, tourism organizations and departments of transportation. Our maps and signature red bugle ‘trailblazers’ help guide visitors and history buffs through cities and rural areas following in the literal footsteps of Civil War soldiers. As of today there are more than 1,500 Civil War Trails sites with over 800 of those interpreted to the public for the first time.
