Celebrate WanderLove and Craft Beer Month

Wanderlust is defined as a strong desire to travel, but here in Virginia, we call that feeling WanderLove. You can experience this by finding a hidden gem or going on a road trip with friends or family! Two of Bedford’s hidden gems are Beale’s Brewery and Apocalypse Ale Works. Bedford’s two breweries are both spots that you need to visit! Both are kid and dog friendly and have beer for every taste bud.

Beale’s brewery is located in the Town of Bedford and is the perfect location to spend time with friends and family! Not only can you enjoy great craft beer and barbeque at Beale’s but you can also learn a little bit about Bedford County’s quirky history. Legend has it that Thomas J. Beale discovered a large treasure while hunting buffalo in the West. He mined the gold, silver and jewels and transported it back to Virginia, where it’s believed he hid it in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bedford County. The brewery’s flagship beer is Beale’s Gold.  The outside deck is the perfect place to social distance, listen to live music and enjoy a little bit of Bedford’s history.

Apocalypse is Bedford County’s first brewery! Located in Forest, this brewery has a lot to offer including at least 16 different beers on tap, a nice outdoor seating area, and Bedford’s first hard cidery which will be available soon! In addition to the beer and cider, hard seltzer is also on tap in several fruitful flavors. With an inside tap room as well as an outside bar, you can enjoy all of the different flavors while sitting outside (under the twinkling lights at nighttime) or inside the cozy tap room that is now extended into an outside covered deck. You can also find fun games like Corn Hole, Connect Four and Jenga. There might not be food on site but you can order food from a local restaurant in Forest and get it delivered to the brewery, or pick it up and bring it with you!
