Wanderlust is defined as a strong desire to travel, but here in Virginia, we call that feeling WanderLove. You can experience this by finding a hidden gem or going on a road trip with friends or family! One of Bedford’s hidden gems is Gross’ Orchard! Summer is prime peach season and the perfect time for you to visit Gross’ Orchard! With so much to offer, you can find fresh fruit, jams, cider, and more!
This family owned and operated business is located at the foot of the beautiful Peaks of Otter and only 8 miles from historic downtown Bedford. Gross’ Orchard is the perfect place to pick your own produce straight from the tree or you can select already picked fruit from the store. Their specialties are mountain grown peaches and apples. Enjoy a picnic and a stroll through the orchards with gorgeous mountain views! Every April they host the Apple Blossom Festival and every October is the Apple Harvest Festival!
Apple Valley has more to offer than just a wide variety of fresh fruit and produce. You can also find Apple Valley Community Center where special events are held and Apple Valley Home Place, which is a three bedroom home available to rent. Also while visiting, don’t forget about the blacksmith shop, where you can purchase hand forged original metal and wood designs by local artist William Mauser of Battery Creek Forge.
